Privacy Policy
Effective October 31, 2026
In short: Handed Down Cookbook does not collect any data. Your recipe cards, photos and everything you write stay on your iPhone. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking.
This policy explains how the Handed Down Cookbook app (“the app”), published by Jekirdek (“we”), handles your information.
What stays on your device
Everything you add to your book is stored only in the app’s storage on your iPhone:
- photos of recipe cards and family photos you scan or choose,
- recipe names, the names of the people recipes came from, memories, dedications and other text you type,
- text read from your cards and your corrections to it.
We never receive this information. The app has no servers and does not send your content anywhere.
Camera and photos
The app uses the camera only while you are scanning a card, and only after you allow it. When you choose photos, iOS shows its own photo picker and gives the app only the photos you select; the app does not ask for access to your whole library.
Text recognition
If you choose to read the text on a card, recognition runs on your iPhone using Apple’s built-in Vision technology. The images and the recognized text are not sent to us or to anyone else.
Files you create
When you save a PDF of your book or make a backup file, the app creates the file on your iPhone and opens the iOS share sheet. You decide where it goes — for example Files, AirDrop, email or a printing service. Anything you share this way is handled by the place you send it to, under its own privacy terms.
Purchases
The one-time “Unlimited” purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your name, email address or payment details. Apple tells the app only whether the purchase has been made. Apple’s handling of your information is described in the Apple Privacy Policy.
Device backups
If iCloud Drive is on for this app, your book (recipes, photos and text) is also copied to your own iCloud account so it is still there if you delete the app or get a new iPhone. It is stored in your iCloud, not on our servers; we cannot see or access it. You can remove it in Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage. Depending on your settings, iOS may also include the app’s data in your iCloud or computer backup. These copies are made and managed by Apple; we have no access to them.
Deleting your data
You can delete a recipe inside the app. Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone. Backup files and PDFs you saved elsewhere are not affected; delete them where you saved them.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or third-party scripts. The service that hosts it may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested, to deliver the site and keep it secure.
Changes
If the app ever starts handling your information differently, we will update this policy and the date above before that change ships.
